DESCRIPTION:Deep geothermal energy is the heat resource generated and stor
ed over 3km deep in the earth. For the utilization of deep geothermal ener
gy\, the direct heat use from Hot Sedimentary Aquifer (HSA) systems is the
easiest gain because it can be achieved with existing technologies and av
oids poor conversion efficiency when converted to electricity. A city-scal
e deep geothermal simulation tool is developed in the project. \nThe tool
can examine the potential of the deep geothermal energy at city scale\, ob
tain the subsurface temperature distribution in a city\, predict the life
span of the geothermal system for a given abstraction rate and suggest a p
roper abstraction rate to ensure the sustainability of the deep geothermal
system. Then the capability of the developed tool will be tested on Beiji
 ng\, China.\n
