DESCRIPTION:In the wake of problems in the conclusion of the Doha Round of
  the World Trade Organization (WTO)\, a host of preferential trade agreeme
 nts have been negotiated. Recently\,  this has included the rise of so-cal
 led mega-FTAs\, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)\, a Transatlan
 tic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)\, and a Regional Comprehensive
  Economic Partnership (RCEP). The talk explores the driving forces for meg
 a-FTAs as well as their likely prospects for a successful conclusion.  \n\
 nVinod K. Aggarwal is a foremost scholar on the political economy of regio
 nalism in Asia. He is Professor of Political Science\, Affiliated Professo
 r at the Haas School of Business\, and Director of the Berkeley APEC Study
  Center at the University of California at Berkeley. He is also Editor-in-
 Chief of the journal Business and Politics and a Global Scholar at Chung-A
 ng University in Seoul. His most recent book\, published in 2014\, is Resp
