DESCRIPTION:Collimated outflows are widespread phenomena in astrophysics\,
  from stellar jets to radio quasars.  When these outflows encounter the su
 rrounding medium\na number of phenomena can occur\, including serious dama
 ge to both jet and medium.  This talk presents a study of jet-ISM interact
 ions in Seyfert galaxies\, where strong emission lines provide important d
 iagnostic information to help unravel both the nature of the interaction a
 nd the nature of the jet. Early results from a related study of obscured q
 uasars\nwith compact but luminous radio sources will also be presented.\n
