SUMMARY:Exploring the Extreme Climates of Giant Planets - Leigh Fletcher\,

DESCRIPTION:Giant planet atmospheres represent perfect natural laboratorie
 s for the\nexploration of fluid dynamics and chemistry\; a paradigm for a
 class of\nastrophysical object now known to be commonplace in our galaxy\;
  and a time\ncapsule for the nebula conditions at the epoch of planet form
 ation. This\ntalk will review our present understanding of the gas and ic
 e giant\natmospheres\, including the hard-to-predict cycles of variability
  that\nperturb the climate over multi-year timescales (e.g.\, upheavals of
  the\nbelt/zone structure and giant storms). Finally\, we will look ahead
  to\nexciting new insights in comparative planetology from future missions
 \,\nincluding Juno\, JWST and ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE).
