DESCRIPTION:The sky is one of the most common light sources in realistic i
mage synthesis. When using the sky as a light source\, there are two separ
ate challenges. The first is how to model the sky radiance\, and the secon
d is how to efficiently use the sky as a light source to light a synthetic
environment. This talk will discuss potential solutions to these challeng
es: a fast and accurate approximation approach for estimating sky radiance
based on machine learning\, and a method for efficient and unbiased impor
tance sampling for lighting with Monte Carlo ray tracing
