DESCRIPTION:Dr Oliver Billker is a faculty member at the Wellcome Trust Sa
 nger Institute. He is interested in how malaria parasites respond to and m
 odify their environment in order to colonise their hosts. His research tea
 m has a particular focus on the biology of the insect stages of the parasi
 te\, which undertake an extraordinary journey from the blood meal to the s
 alivary glands of the mosquito\, thereby enabling malaria to be transmitte
 d between individuals. His team works closely with collaborators to develo
 p new genetic technologies that will facilitate the discovery of new drugs
  against the disease.
