DESCRIPTION:The 2015 Alcuin Lecture\n\n'Our infinite Scotland small?' Choo
 sing worlds to join.\n\nWith Neal Ascherson on the historical connections 
 between Scotland and Europe\, how they can be exploited in the present con
 text\, and the importance of re-establishing an active and distinct 'Europ
 ean identity' for Scotland in the next few years. \n\nNamed after Alcuin o
 f York\, a teacher\, theologian\, and poet who advised the Emperor Charlem
 agne\, this annual lecture hosted by the Department of Politics and Intern
 ational Relations is given on a topic concerning the UK and Europe.\n\nNea
 l Ascherson is a Scottish historian and journalist who currently writes fo
 r the Guardian. \n\nhttp://www.theguardian.com/profile/nealascherson  \n\n
 The lecture will take place between 5/6pm\, followed by a reception in the
  atrium of the Alison Richard Building. \n\nAll welcome\, but registration
