DESCRIPTION:I will discuss probabilistic methods of determining amenabilit
 y of groups by studying random walks on them\, specifically involving entr
 opy of random walks and actions of the group. I will focus on application 
 for automata groups. These are a class of groups of automorphisms of trees
  with self-similar actions\, and include natural realizations of many inte
 resting groups (self-similar\, of intermediate growth\, lamplighters\, etc
 .)
