DESCRIPTION:*Monday 8 June 2015 5:15* for 5:30pm\n\n*The Pavillion Room\
 , Hughes Hall\, Cambridge\, CB1 2EW*\n\n* Since 2010\, Hughes Hall has hos
ted a series of annual public lectures\, reviewing the evolution of the Eu
rozone sovereign debt crisis.\n* Demetrius Floudas\, once again revisits t
he topic\, which has been at the top of the agenda of political and econom
ic analysts in previous months\n\nIn January 2015\, Greece faced its most
important general election of the last decades. Elections in this small co
untry acquired an unexpected world-wide significance that is very rare in
comparable situations. The results which brought the radical left Syriza
party to power\, represented the first electoral victory for such a politi
cal entity in post-war Europe.\n\nThis lecture intends to present an under
standable overview of the current state of the Greek crisis\, for everyon
e who may have felt overwhelmed by the masses of information disseminated
so far. At the same time\, it will follow with a new paradigm of analysis
of a number of issues\, based on analytical prediction models as well as t
he speaker's own experience from his observations of the political undercu
rrents in Greece.\n\n* How likely is it that Greece will default? What wil
l really happen if it does?\n* How will a Greek collapse affect the UK\, E
urope and the rest of the world?\n* Why did Greek voters reject the Europe
an bail-out in January 2015?\n* Is instability/riots/civil war a possible
danger for the country?\n* What are the scenarios for the 'day after'?\n\n
_Demetrius Andreas Floudas has been a Special Adviser to the 'Forum for Gr
eece' political think tank. In addition\, he has provided commentary on t
he unfolding crisis in the country to Greek and international media (BBC\,
VoA\, Russia Today) on numerous occasions . Demetrius Floudas is a Senior
Member of Hughes Hall\, Cambridge and a Fellow of the Hellenic Institute
of International and Foreign Law._\n\n\n*The lecture will be followed by a
