DESCRIPTION:Modern event generators provide a precise simulation of collis
 ion\nevents at the LHC\, allowing to use them for a more reliable backgrou
 nd\nestimation or interpretation of data. In this talk I will briefly\nsum
 marise the distinctive features of the Sherpa Monte Carlo and then\nconcen
 trate on practical considerations -- in particular also cases\nwhere naive
  expectations about parton shower programs sometimes clash\nwith the reali
 ty of NLO-matched and multi-jet-merged simulations.
