DESCRIPTION:This presentation will summarize research on chemical and bioc
hemical microsensors carried out in the Biomolecular Measurement Division
at NIST. It will describe the design and function of microscale platforms\
, as well as the fabrication and integration of nanomaterials that enable
analytical measurements. Specific examples will include the use of tempera
ture-controlled electrochemical devices for measuring biomolecular stabili
ty changes relevant to single nucleotide polymorphism and small molecule b
inding to DNA structures. The properties of Ag (and Au) interfaces fabrica
ted for localized surface plasmon resonance (and bimodal EC-SERS) studies
 will also be discussed.
