DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will give an overview of work we have been doin
 g at the University of Kent to understand memory model performance.  Two b
 road topics will be covered: \n(1) Our methods for establishing benchmarks
  for memory model performance/impact in the Linux Kernel and Hotspot JVM.\
 n(2) Tuning litmus tests to perturb interesting behaviour on modern archit
 ectures with a view to building microbenchmarks from litmus tests.\n\nI wi
 ll be around for extended discussion before and after the talk.
