DESCRIPTION:In the Vet Futures survey of July 2015\, vets stated that they
  wanted the top five priorities for the profession to be:\n\n•         R
 educing stress\n\n•         Improving veterinary leadership on animal we
 lfare\n\n•         Becoming respected and valued by society\n\n•      
    Developing a valued role for vets in education on responsible animal ow
 nership\n\n•         Raising the profile of animal-related issues that a
 ffect public health\n\n\nWe probably can’t help with the first one\, but
  having a vet in the House of Lords can help the veterinary profession mak
 e progress with the other four. \n\nThis talk will shed some light on myth
 s about the House of Lords in the media\, what actually goes on behind the
  velvet curtains\, touches on the legislation (UK & EU) relevant to the ve
 terinary profession and how it can be influenced. We hope you will enjoy i
 t.\n\nHannah Jordan is the outgoing Parliamentary Veterinary Intern for Lo
 rd Trees. She has worked in the House of Lords for two years and is keen t
 o raise the profile and understanding of veterinary policy and decision-ma
 king within the profession.\n
