DESCRIPTION:We discuss a partial `differential geometric compactification 
 of Hitchin's Higgs moduli space by so-called limiting configurations. The 
 first part of the talk will address their existence. The second talk deals
  with convergence near infinity.\n\nThe content of this talk is based on a
 rXiv:1405.5765 and 1502.01692 [math.DG] joint with R. Mazzeo and H. Weiss.
