DESCRIPTION:The extraordinary technological progress in photography that h
 as occurred in the last 184 years will be reviewed. Tony Kaye will describ
 e the black and white and the colour negative positive processes\, and int
 roduce the concept of colour management in modern digital systems. He will
  challenge the audience to reflect on the question\, ‘What has changed i
 n 184 years of photography\, a little or a lot ? Are the changes fundament
 al or just technology substitution?\n\nTony’s interest in photography an
 d imaging started at the age of 11 with his parents’ Kodak Brownie 127 c
 amera. His first degree was in physics and his doctorate was in astronomy\
 , where he specialised in detecting faint light using photographic materia
 ls and photographic materials used in conjunction with image intensifiers.
  He joined Kodak in 1978 directly from university and has specialised in t
 he negative positive process throughout his career. His current role withi
 n Kodak is Quality Leader Colour Negative Films\, for the European African
  and Middle Eastern Region. Recently his interests have broadened to inclu
 de both digital capture and digitisation of film via scanning.\n\nThe lect
 ure is for anyone interested in science and photography. Suitable for A-le
 vel students. Admission is free.\n\nThere is no booking\, so come early to
  get a good seat! Doors open at 18:30. Please advise us if you intend to b
