DESCRIPTION:This talk will explain results from models on scar tissue form
ation and fibroblast populated collagen lattice contraction. The first se
t of models focus on the biochemical remodeling of the wound environment.
The extracellular matrix is treated as a continuum\, the cells are modele
d as discrete objects\,and the interactions between the two are investigat
ed to better understand scar tissue formation. In the second set of model
s\, mechanical forces are the focus to better understand wound contraction
. Both the cells and the collagen lattice are modeled as discrete structu
res in the fibroblast populated collagen lattice models.\n
