DESCRIPTION:The moduli space of holomorphic one-forms on Riemann surfaces\
nof fixed genus g admits a natural action of the group SL(2\,R) which has
 a\nvery elementary description. So-called algebraically primitive\nTeichmu
eller curves\nare closed orbits which correspond to Riemann surfaces with
special\nproperties.\n\nWe outline how classical tools from symplectic and
complex geometry\ntogether with the groundbreaking work of Eskin\, Mirzak
hani and Mohammadi\n(whose main statement is easy to understand)\ncan be u
sed to show that for g at least three\, there are only finitely\nmany such
  orbits.\nWe also discuss some examples.
