DESCRIPTION:The detailed exploration of the Higgs sector and the search fo
r New Physics beyond the Standard Model are the two main goals of the rece
ntly started Run II of the Large Hadron Collider. In this program\, pushin
g the boundaries of perturbative QCD calculations and tools is essential i
n order to optimise the exploitation of the LHC measurements. In this talk
\, I present three recent examples of this cross-talk between pQCD and the
searches for new physics: (i) NLO+NLL squark and gluino cross-sections wi
th threshold-resummed PDFs\, (ii) Higgs pair production with jet substruct
ure\, and (iii) using LHCb charm data to improve predictions for event rat
es at neutrino telescopes as IceCube.
