DESCRIPTION:UltraWire (Ultra Conductive Copper-Carbon Nanotube Wire) is th
e European Commission 7th Framework Programme (EC FP7) project (Grant Agre
ement No. 609057)\, with 14 partners from industry and academia that start
ed on the 1st October 2013 and it will run until 30th September 2016 (www.
ultrawire.eu). The aim of the project is to develop a copper nanocarbon co
mposite with significantly improved overall properties\, including electri
cal\, thermal and mechanical performances over bulk copper using productio
n process that will be scalable to large volume manufacture.\n\nThe Open D
ay is the first opportunity to learn about some of the EC FP7 UltraWire pr
oject results\, meet project partners and project management. It would sta
rt with in-depth overview of the project and presentation of non-confident
ial results given by the Ultrawire program leader\, Professor Krzysztof Ko
ziol from Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy\, University of C
ambridge. This presentation would be followed by some other selected proje
ct related presentations related to H&S issues\, modeling and exploitation
and dissemination. Presentations from other European nano-carbon metal co
mposite research projects are also invited. It is planned to start at 9.30
am and finish at 5.00pm with an optional tour of laboratories before lunch
.\n\nNote: It is planned that all presentations would be followed by Q&A d
iscussion. The organisers reserve the right to change the programme\, spea
kers or venue should circumstances require.\n\nIf you intend to attend thi
s event please contact Dr Krzysztof Koziol (kk292@cam.ac.uk) and Dr Bojan
Boskovic (Bojan.Boskovic@CNT-Ltd.co.uk) to receive free of charge access t
 icket.
