SUMMARY:Using Surfaces to Direct Microphase Separation - Clarion Tung (Dep
 artment of Chemistry\, Columbia University)

DESCRIPTION:Short and long grafted chains exhibit microphase separation\,
a phenomenon in which microdomains of each species forms. This is seen on
length scales ranging from nanocrystal ligands to polymer brushes. I will
present computer simulation results showing that surface curvature control
s the resulting micropatterns\, and will give a rief overview of polymer b
rush theory to support our findings. If time allows\, I will talk about d
 epletion forces in active materials.
