DESCRIPTION:In November\, 1715\, in an effort to rid itself of its under-l
 ibrarian\, the antiquary and Nonjuror Thomas Hearne\, the Bodleian Library
  changed its locks.   Drawing on Hearne’s account\, this paper examines 
 the politics surrounding the editing and publication of English historical
  manuscripts in the early eighteenth century\, and the consequences for la
 ter readings of the English Reformation.
