DESCRIPTION:Tilting modules form an important class of finite-dimensional
representations for reductive groups in positive characteristic. We know v
ery little about the structure of such modules in general\, including thei
r characters and especially their Loewy series. In this talk I'll show how
Soergel's tilting character formula for quantum tilting modules leads to
a remarkably straightforward algorithm for calculating tilting characters
by finding a particularly nice Loewy series called a balanced semisimple f
 iltration.
