DESCRIPTION:After studying Social and Political Sciences and an MPhil in A
frican Studies at Cambridge\, Nadia has spent five years working in the hu
manitarian aid industry in a variety of roles\, working in South Sudan\, J
ordan and Sierra Leone.\n\nFor those hoping to pursue a career in the ‘T
hird Sector’\, especially amidst a broad range of organisations and agen
cies whose mandates can be loosely collected under the umbrella headings o
f ‘Human Rights and Social Justice’\, ‘Conflict and Security’ or
‘Development and Humanitarian Aid\,’ the terrain can be difficult to n
avigate. A sound academic training\, the kind provided by Cambridge Univer
sity\, is important but certainly not enough to prepare students for the t
ransition into working in this sector. Through a mixture of substantive di
scussion\, personal reflection and practical advice\, the CGHR Practitione
r Series brings together high‐level experts working in these fields and
creates a forum in which students and researchers can listen and ask quest
ions about what this work actually involves\, seek out reflections from ex
perience on the dilemmas and challenges faced\, and probe the skill set an
d experience needed to forge a career in these fields.\n\nMore about the C
