DESCRIPTION:In 1949\, Shannon derived his famous formula 1/2 log(1+SNR) fo
r the capacity of the additive white Gaussian-noise (AWGN) channel. Design
ing an efficient code to achieve this capacity has been the holy grail of
coding people ever since. This talk is concerned with a new class of capac
ity-achieving lattice codes\, namely polar lattices. We show that the cons
truction is explicit and efficient\, and the overall complexity of encodin
g and decoding is O(N logN) for any fixed target error probability.\n\n*BI

nic Engineering Department at Imperial College London. His research intere
sts are coding\, lattices\, information theory\, and security. He is an As

of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
