DESCRIPTION:Stem cells can be derived from most tissues of the body\, but
for purposes of stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine\, the most val
uable in the long term may prove to be the embryonic stem cells\, derived
from early preimplantation stages of embryo development. However\, it is t
hese stem cells that are of most ethical concern. Moral values vary betwee
n different cultures and different countries\, and may shift with time. Th
is talk will discuss ethical issues involved with early human embryos\, an
d the impact of these ethical issues on regulations and laws relating to s
 tem cell research internationally.
