DESCRIPTION:The benefits of mentoring for students and researchers include
  access to advice about career development and progression and guidance ab
 out research\, study and other related issues. This presentation will prov
 ide participants with tips and strategies for making the mentoring process
  work for both the mentor and mentee.\n \nBy the end of this presentation\

 e a mentoring meeting\n\n_About the Speaker_\n\nDr Sharon Saunders has he
 ld a number of academic\, consultancy\, training & development and HR role
 s in the higher education\, health\, police and voluntary sectors and her 
 career story spans two continents. This means she has a wide range of acad
 emic\, practitioner\, consulting\, teaching and facilitation experience in
  the areas of academic and researcher development.\n\nSharon is currently 
 a Researcher Development Consultant at the University of Cambridge support
 ing 3000+ postdocs/research staff. She is also a coach and mentor to a nu
 mber of clients undergoing leadership development training in the health 
 and higher education sectors. \n \nSharon's research around leadership a
 nd gender means that she is passionate about mentoring as a means for wom
 en to define success in whatever ways are meaningful to them.  She recent
 ly led a conference for International Women’s Day entitled ‘Gender Bal
 ance in the Real World’.\n
