erience? - Dr Marieke Mur (MRC Cognition &amp\; Brain Sciences Unit)

DESCRIPTION:When we open our eyes\, a wave of neuronal activity sweeps thr
ough our visual system. Visual information travels from the retina to the
brain\, and the brain infers meaning from the received information. We bec
ome aware of the world around us. How do these neuronal signals give rise
to our phenomenological experience? In this talk\, I will present work tha
t begins to address this question by relating the subjective perceptual ex
perience of visual objects to the associated neuronal information processi
ng as measured by functional magnetic resonance imaging.
