DESCRIPTION:In April 2015\, the US Commonwealth of Virginia decertified th
 e Advanced\nVoting Solutions (AVS) WinVote voting machine\, after concludi
 ng that it was\ninsecure.  This talk presents the results of Virginia's an
 alysis of the\nWinVote\, and explores how we got to the point where a voti
 ng machine using\nan unpatched version of Windows XP from 2004\, using har
 dwired WEP keys and\nadministrator passwords\, could be used for over a de
 cade in most of\nVirginia.
