DESCRIPTION:Our research focuses on looking for heterogeneity in disease t
ype and disease stage. Understanding and detecting this heterogeneity will
be important for developing stratified medicine approaches.\n\nI will sta
rt by giving a brief overview of the research that we have done to look fo
r blood-based biomarkers (genetic\, proteomic and metabolomics) of Alzheim
er¹s disease\, for the enrichment of prevention trials.\n\nThe majority o
f the talk will be dedicated to early work on the detection of heterogenei
ty in the progression of continuous measures. This work can be seen as an
attempt to use time series data to better phenotype individuals. To achiev
e this we have been using and developing clustering approaches that are se
nsitive to time-delayed correlation\, but that can cope with heterogeneous
sparse time points. I will present a simulation study before showing exam
ples using biological\, medical and wearable (i.e. remote monitoring techn
 ology) datasets.
