DESCRIPTION:Flavour physics is a fundamental constituent of particle physi
cs and has provided many groundbreaking results. Precision measurements of
decays of heavy hadrons allow for stringent tests of the theory of partic
le physics\, which give access to scales of particles beyond the reach of
direct searches. LHCb is currently the leading player in flavour physics.
In this seminar\, the latest LHCb results from Run 1 of the LHC will be di
scussed as well as first results from data acquired in 2015. The discussio
n will focus on charm physics\, which offers unique opportunities for the
discovery of physics beyond the standard model. Highlights of searches for
rare and forbidden decays as well as for CP violation will be discussed.
This includes new limits on the lepton-flavour violating decay D0 —> e m
u and a new measurement of the difference in CP asymmetry in two-body hadr
onic D0 decays. The seminar will conclude with a brief outlook on prospect
s of flavour physics with LHCb and beyond.
