 here that are critical points (of a mass functional) with higher index. We
  explain what is the width of a manifold and try to compute it for the rou
 nd sphere. Furthermore\, we give a counterexample to a conjecture regardin
 g the index and nullity of closed geodesic networks in ellipsoids.
