DESCRIPTION:The end of the Cold War and the enlargement of NATO and the EU
have created immensely profitable opportunities for German business. Trad
e with eastern Europe and Russia has expanded enormously in the past two a
nd a half decades. Recently\, however\, destabilising influences - such as
the crisis of the Euro\, the migration question\, the rise of ISIS\, Russ
ia's annexation of Crimea\, and interventions in Ukraine and Syria - have
placed a question mark over the assumptions that long underpinned this see
mingly benign commercial environment. In an atmosphere of rising pressure
and building tension\, the powers and populations of Europe have begun to
question once again the desirability and wisdom of a Europe built around a
German economic powerhouse at the heart of the continent - the 'German Qu
 estion' has been re-opened. \n\nIn a wide-ranging lecture and Q&A session\
, Rainer Neske (who has had more than twenty years of experience in the ba
nking sector\, latterly at the highest levels) will investigate what these
challenges mean for German business\, and how they might be overcome. \n\
nThe lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. \n\nSpace is strictly
limited\, so please register well in advance by emailing Dr Maeve Ryan -
