DESCRIPTION:We give an overview of the Lixto project\, which is both a\nre
 search project in database theory and a commercial enterprise that\ndevelo
 ps Web data extraction (wrapping) and Web service definition\nsoftware. Af
 ter reviewing the project's main motivations and ideas\, in\nparticular th
 e use of a logic-based framework for wrapping\, we give a\nshort demo of s
 ome main feaures of the system and discuss a number of\nindustry projects 
 carried out by the Lixto Software corporation\n(www.lixto.com). Based on t
 he project experience\, we define goals and\nreserach directions for explo
 ring new frontiers of Web data\nextraction\, which will be discussed at th
 e end of the talk.
