DESCRIPTION:Dr Madsen Pirie is the founder and current president of the Ad
 am Smith Institute\, a think-tank that promotes libertarian and free marke
 t ideas. He is an alumnus of Pembroke College\, having taken up an MPhil i
 n Land Economy after completing his PhD in Philosophy at the University of
  St Andrews. Madsen has also written extensively on economics\, politics a
 nd logic\, having authored several books such as The Book of the Fallacy\,
  Micropolitics\, Privatization\, How to Win Every Argument\, 101 Great Phi
 losophers\, Blueprint for a Revolution\, and Freedom 101.\n\nMadsen will b
 e coming to Pembroke College's Old Library on Friday the 30th October at 6
 pm to discuss how ideas of idealism\, versus empiricism\, instruct politic
 al ideology today.
