DESCRIPTION:Blockchains are the technology behind digital crypto currencie
s such as BitCoin - but they can be used not only for rethinking how we tr
ade and exchange monetary value. Because they exist as an irrefutable led
ger or log of transactions\, they can also be used for traceability and se
cure information sharing within supply chains and for checking the provena
nce of the products we buy - are they sustainably produced? are they genu
ine or are they counterfeits that have been inserted into legitimate suppl
y chains. This seminar provides a technical introduction to how blockchai
n technology works - and how it could be applied to improve traceability a
nd secure information sharing within supply chains.
