DESCRIPTION:"General Reflections": A look at UK defence in an era of Middl
 e East turmoil\, an adventurist Russia and a burgeoning refugee crisis in 
 Europe\n\nGeneral Sir Mike Jackson has enjoyed a distinguished career serv
 ing in numerous high-profile and difficult roles requiring operational lea
 dership\, strategic insight and unfailing good judgement. He served as Chi
 ef of the General Staff (CGS) from 2003-2006\, the culmination of four dec
 ades in the British Army. He previously served as Commander in Chief Land 
 Commander (from 2000)\, Commander Kosovo Force (in 1999)\, Commander ACE R
 apid Reaction Corps (from 1997)\, and Director General Development and Doc
 trine at the MOD. His active service included command at company and briga
 de level in Northern Ireland\, divisional command in Bosnia\, and corps co
 mmander in Macedonia and Kosovo. Sir Mike is now a Senior Advisor at PA Co
 nsulting Group\, a non-executive director on the board of ForceSelect and 
 has various consulting roles.\n\nThe talk will begin at 6.00pm (preceded w
 ith tea at 5.15pm)\n\nAll members of the University are warmly invited to
