DESCRIPTION:The aim of our current work is to deconstruct the tumour micro
environment of ovarian cancer metastases in order to inform in vitro and i
n silico modelling of this disease and to aid testing of new biological th
erapies. Specifically\, we are conducting high resolution profiling of the
evolving tumour microenvironment of omental metastases of human high-grad
e serous ovarian cancer\, HGSC. We have analysed higher order structures o
f omental metastases\, architecture\, cellularity and biomechanical proper
ties\, and related these to transcriptomic and proteomic data on the same
sample using multivariate analysis. This has allowed us to identify gene a
nd protein expression patterns that best predict the higher order structur
es. Our results suggest that investigation of multiple aspects of the evol
ving tumour may be useful in generating more representative models of its
microenvironment\, providing information that complements data obtained fr
om studying a single parameter in larger numbers of biopsies.
