DESCRIPTION:Guy Standing is Professor of Development Studies at SOAS\, Uni
 versity of \nLondon\, Professor of Labour Economics at Monash University\,
  Director of \nthe ILO’s Socio-Economic Security Programme (1999-2006) a
 nd Director of \nthe ILO’s Labour Market Policies Branch.\n\nAn economis
 t\, with a Ph.D. from Cambridge University\, he is a founder \nand co-Pres
 ident of the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN)\, an NGO \npromoting basic 
 income\, with members in over 50 countries. He has been \nconsultant to ma
 ny international agencies\, including the UNDP\, UNICEF\, \nWorld Bank\, E
 uropean Commission and DFID\, as well as governments and \ntrades unions. 
 In 1995-96\, he was research director for President \nMandela’s Labour M
 arket Policy Commission.\n\nRecent books are A Precariat Charter: From Den
 izens to Citizens \n(Bloomsbury\, 2014)\, The Precariat: The New Dangerous
  Class (Bloomsbury\, \n2011\; second edition\, 2014)\, Work after Globaliz
 ation: Building \nOccupational Citizenship (Elgar\, 2009). The Precariat h
 as been \ntranslated into 14 languages. For some years he has also worked 
 on pilot \nbasic income schemes in India\, with SEWA\, a union representin
 g women. \nThis has resulted in S.Davala\, R.Jhabvala\, S.Mehta and G.Stan
 ding\, Basic \nIncome: A Transformative Policy for India (Bloomsbury\, 201
 5).\n
