DESCRIPTION:I will introduce the symmetric monoidal theory of interacting 
 Hopf monoids\, which is a string diagrammatic language capable of capturin
 g most standard concepts of finite-dimensional linear algebra. I will brie
 fly outline recent work on applications to signal flow graphs\, a classica
 l formalism in control theory and signal processing. Various results in th
 e talk are the result of joint work with Filippo Bonchi and Fabio Zanasi\,
  and with Brendan Fong and Paolo Rapisarda. I have been blogging about gra
