DESCRIPTION:I'll describe a geometrical interpretation of the loop calculu
s for bordered Floer homology introduced by Hanselman and Watson. To an or
iented 3-manifold with torus boundary whose Floer homology is of loop type
\, we associate an immersed curve in the complement of a point in \\partia
l M. If we glue two such manifolds together\, HF^hat of the resulting clos
ed manifold is the Lagrangian Floer homology of the corresponding curves.
I'll give some applications to the problem of understanding when a manifol
d which contains an incompressible torus is an L-space. Joint with Jonatha
 n Hanselman and Liam Watson.
