DESCRIPTION:I will discuss strong approximation for algebraic varieties ov
 er the rational numbers\, before focusing on a special family of varieties
  defined by norm forms which can be analysed using methods from analytic n
 umber theory. \nThis permits the verification of (a special case of) a rec
 ent conjecture due to Harpaz and Wittenberg with consequences for the stud
 y rational points on fibrations.  This is joint work with Damaris Schindle
