DESCRIPTION:I will describe a joint project with Rina Anno: a categorifica
 tion of\ngeneralised braids. These are the braids whose strands are allowe
 d to touch in\na certain way. They have multiple endpoint configurations a
 nd can be\nnon-invertible\, thus forming a category rather than a group. A
  decade old\nconjecture states that this category acts on the derived cate
 gories of (the\ncotangent bundles of) full and partial flag varieties.\n\n
 The basic building blocks of this conjectural action are spherical\, P- an
 d\n(what we expect to be) Grassmanian functors together with the equivalen
 ces they\ninduce. I will describe our present progress and future expectat
 ions.
