DESCRIPTION:Since 1961 plant ecologists and engineers at Sheffield Univers
 ity have been using field surveys\, trait screening and ecosystem manipula
 tions to investigate the assembly and functioning of plant communities. Th
 is talk will review progress in this adventure placing a particular focus 
 on international collaborations at the Buxton Hub within the Health and Sa
 fety Laboratory in North Derbyshire.
