DESCRIPTION:The concept of unikernels is gaining recognition in both acade
mia and industry as "the next logical step" in the evolution from virtual
machines to containers. A popularized definition of unikernels state that
they are "single address space machine images constructed by using library
operating systems". What does that really mean? Do we need to clarify? In
this talk we introduce IncludeOS\, a recent addition to the growing famil
y of unikernels\, and use it as a basis for a discussion about how models
of computation and principles of virtualization and emulation might be rel
evant in determining what is and what isn't a unikernel.
