DESCRIPTION:Dmitry Vodennikov is a poet\, an essayist and a radio presente
 r. He graduated from the department of philology of Moscow State Pedagogic
 al University. Dmitry is an author of seven books of poetry. He writes ess
 ays and columns for several Russian newspapers and journals. For a number 
 of years he has been hosting radio shows about contemporary Russian litera
 ture including Notes from a Neophyte\, From One’s Own Angle (Своя к
 олокольня)\, and Poetic Minimum.\nIn 2002\, he was named one of t
 he ten best living Russian poets. He is considered the leader of New Since
 rity movement in Russian literature.\n\nOn 23 February he will be visiting
  Cambridge as part of a nationwide tour\, which the Department of Slavonic
  Studies has helped to sponsor.\n\nHis talk will be on the Russian poets w
 ho influenced him. These are some of the leading poets of the twentieth ce
 ntury in Soviet Russia. The talk will present this poet’s unique view of
  the role poetry played in that troubled period of Russian history.\n\nWhe
