DESCRIPTION:Aerospace travel is severely limited today because we do not y
et understand even the most basic effects of turbulence on combustion. By
the early 90's\, a robust modelling methodology was developed to address t
his problem\, but it is only today — in the age of supercomputing and la
ser diagnostics — that such age-old questions are likely to be resolved.
This talk will introduce one such persistent question and the measures be
ing taken to find an answer.
