DESCRIPTION:There has been a recent shift in the evolutionary behavioural 
 sciences towards the view that parenting in our species is cooperative\, a
 nd that mothers require help from others to raise children successfully. T
 his talk will present evidence to support this hypothesis that our reprodu
 ction requires cooperation. It will then consider the implications of this
  cooperative system of reproduction for fertility - do women have more chi
 ldren in the presence of helpful family members? Empirical evidence from a
 cross the world will be brought to bear on this question.\n\nPLEASE NOTE C
