DESCRIPTION:With the ever increasing challenges of combating climate chang
 e\, security of supply and affordability\, nuclear generation continues to
  have an important role in the global energy mix. This is very much the ca
 se in the UK where 3 developers are pushing forward with their plans for n
 ew nuclear build which combined could achieve around 16 GWe of low carbon 
 generation. One of those projects is being taken forward by Horizon Nuclea
 r Power who will deploy the ABWR (Advanced Boiling Water Reactor) which is
  one of three reactor technologies that form GE Hitachi's reactor portfoli
 o. GE Hitachi has been designing and building nuclear power plants globall
 y for well over 60 years and this presentation will draw upon that experie
 nce to outline some of the key steps involved in bringing a new nuclear pr
 ogramme into reality.
