DESCRIPTION:I will describe the development of the design of a new tree-li
 ke tensegrity sculpture\, the "Tensegritree".  The Tensegritree\, designed
  by Expedition Engineering\, was built to celebrate the 50th Anniversary o
 f the University of Kent\, and the 10th Anniversary of the founding of Ken
 t School of Architecture.  The tree-like conceptual form emerged from a wo
 rkshop with students at the University of Kent\; based on the concept\, a 
 final form was developed\, simplified\, optimized and realized. The final 
 sculpture has a height of 7m and a diameter of 12m\, and was completed in 
 June 2015.\n\nAs well as describing the sculpture\, I will give an account
  of the tools used for the form-finding of the shape\, and the analysis of
  the structure.\n
