DESCRIPTION:The main focus of my lab is to understand the contribution of
genetic and environmental factors to the aetiology of complex disease and
medically related complex traits\, as well as\, to investigate how to best
use these factors in the prediction of disease.\n \nIn the first part of
the talk\, I will present evidence that a part of the missing heritability
can be explained by an overestimation of heritability due to shared famil
ial environmental effects.\nIn the second part\, I will show that the use
of a powerful statistical approach and large samples sizes provide conside
rable improvements of prediction accuracy of complex traits compared to ty
 pically used polygenic risk scores.
